Isaac Chau

Isaac Chau joined the Anne Rowling Clinic as a research nurse shortly after he graduated from an MSc in Nursing at the University of Dundee in November 2022. Prior to this, Isaac completed his undergraduate studies and in October 2019 obtained a BSc in Medical Science at Brock University, Canada. 

Isaac gained a passion for neurology, geriatrics, and research while completing his MSc at the University of Dundee. During his time in Dundee, he was able to develop his research skills by publishing his first literature, Age-Friendly Ecosystems for Community Participation: A Rapid Realist Review, as a co-author. With a desire to write an MSc dissertation that was meaningful to him, he conducted a scoping review on the effect of vitamin D and falls, and falls-related outcomes in older adults with Parkinson’s.

Additionally, Isaac is undertaking a part-time PhD in the Euan MacDonald Centre for Motor Neuron Disease Research at the University of Edinburgh that started in September 2023. His PhD topic is centred around data enrichment and digital healthcare to improve the clinical care and research participation of people living with motor neuron disease in Scotland. He aims to achieve this by using the Scottish MND register, CARE-MND, to gain a understanding of the clinical and research landscape in Scotland and how it compares to national standards, and inform the development of digital tools to improve MND clinical care and research participation nationally.

Isaac's PhD is supervised by Professor Suvankar Pal, Judith Newton and Professor Siddharthan Chandran.
